roller coaster

Well, it is now the 28th of January and it's been a rough 2 weeks since my last post. We went from the highest of highs, experiencing our first 2 1/2 seizure free days, to the lows of longer seizures, vomiting, fever, uncertainty. What????
Long story short...Reese stopped taking the bottle, we saw the Ped., they wanted to admit her to the "H", she started drinking in the doc office:), they did blood work (looking for source of a fever), sent us home. Blood looked good, fever endured for 11 days. Seizures came back with a vengeance. They are long and hard, but fewer; not fewer than zero, of course, but fewer than they have been. The fever finally broke Monday! Hooray...because they wanted to do more tests if the fever was still there Monday.
Here's the great news...not only has she been smiling every day (I have been praying for a smile for 3 months!!!!) but she started laughing!!! The first time she did it, I was changing her diaper. She was staring at my face and started chuckling. We both got the giggles and laughed together for 15 minutes. She started laughing so hard she didn't make a sound--you know when you laugh til you can't breathe? It was wonderful!!! Mario was out of town, so he didn't get to see it. But since he returned she's done it every day. We can put up with anything as long as she keeps laughing.:)'s the recap: No seizures...stop eating...throw up...fever...more seizures...longer seizures...fever...laughing!...fever...laughing...fever gone...still laughing...still long seizures...still laughing!!:)

God reminded me of my favorite Psalm:
Ps. 62:
My soul waits in silence for GOD ONLY;
From Him is my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation,
My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.

How long will you assail a man,
That you may murder him, all of you,
Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
They have counseled only to thrust him down from his high position;
They delight in falsehood;
They bless with their mouth,
But inwardly they curse.

My soul, wait in silence for God only,
For my hope is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation,
My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.
On God my salvation and my glory REST;
The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.
Trust in Him at all times, O people;
Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us...

  2. I am so sorry to here about Reese's fevers. I have been praying for you all a lot and when I read your part about her laughing it brought tears to my eyes, such a simple thing can mean so much! I have missed you all and I hope to see you maybe this summer. Be praying for me as I apply to become a teacher this year, and that I would raise my GPA. I am praying for God's direction while trying not to forget my most important goal, to glorify Him. I pray that Reese would be feeling better and that you guys will have extra strength for the difficult times. My family says hi, and gives hugs too :)

  3. Hi Kerry! You're faith is so strong. That is so important. Sorry to hear about your last 2 weeks. Praise the Lord for smiles and laughter:) Kristin

  4. Kerry,
    Just took some time to catch up on your blog. My heart and fervent prayers go out to you. You are so strong in the Lord. Prayers of thanksgiving to Him who is our strength, refuge, hope and salvation. What a special blessing those smiles and laughter must be! I, too, found myself crying as I was reading. "He who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."

Thanks for taking the time!
